Seventy Seven Nail Lacquer: Springtime Small Batches

Seventy Seven Nail Lacquer has been a favorite around these parts for a long while now. From the searing neons to those lusty vamps, there really is something for everyone in this line. This year, instead of the standard Spring collection, we are being treated to a scattering of small batch stunners. I have four to share today, and lemmejussay: I have a favorite or two.

Eye of the Storm
This is a soft charcoal gray cream filled with shimmering, shifting flakes and I swear I see some red microglitters in the mix. There is a lot going on and all of it is shiny. (Before you read this next sentence, let us all remember that I basically live in the ocean. It has been humid as hell here lately, and everything is being weird.) I found this formula to be a touch thick, like it wanted to start a fight with the brush. I think it was just the weather making it behave poorly. It leveled itself and I didn't have to fuss with it for the sake of pictures, beyond applying topper. I contacted Miss Connie and she double checked her stock, and they were all fine. Even with the slight hissy fit, I still only needed two thin coats plus a layer of Seche Vite for these photos.

I'll Drink to That
Do you want to be a frosty, delicious mermaid? Because this is how you become a frosty, delicious mermaid. I don't have enough words to describe this polish. At first, I called it a vivid cerulean blue...then it looked a bit aqua to me as I rolled the bottle around. As I started applying it, it showed off an almost duochrome effect with a cobalt edge. I just don't know. I do know that it is pearly and shimmering and lively. There are about seven billion glass flecks in each swipe, and it makes the most delightfully chaotic reflection. It is a wee bit prone to brush strokes, but I don't think I even care...I could have blotted on a coat to obliterate them. It is a bit on the thin side, and I used three medium coats plus Seche Vite for these photos.

My Name is Daisy
Holysmokes. This is a lively medium purple holo with tiny violet flakes. I love Daisy. She is a bit sheer on that first coat, but the second works some sort of magic and becomes completely opaque. The formula was a wee bit...plasticky? But it doesn't run, flood, streak, or talk back. And all that glorious sparkle...sigh. I used two coats plus Seche Vite here.

Take Me to the Beach
Hello Mr Perfect! This pale seafoam has a pearly metallic underside and strong linear rainbow. I need to figure out some way to combine this with I'll Drink to That  because that would be the most mermaidified of all mermaid manicures. That combo might actually cause me to become a mermaid. So long, and thanks for all the fish! This one also goes on slightly sheer during the first coat, but it isn't hard to build up. I used two coats plus Seche Vite here and I was totally happy with that. This one, like Daisy, has a slightly plasticky formula, but it is perfectly behaved and shimmered like I wanted.

Do you have a favorite? For me, its one of the mermaid shades that really makes my heart sing. But I can't choose which one...so I recommend these be bought together. They are obviously a bonded pair. Go check out the 77NL shop for these shades and more. Once these are gone, they are gone for good!

  6. Ohhh, so many colors that I like -- that first one, the gray Eye of the Storm. So beautiful! And so is My Name Is Daisy. I honestly would rock any of these colors. Take Me To the Beach might be a little out of my comfort zone, but it's fun to be wild on occasion!
