Cat Lady Nails...Again

I originally did this for a Facebook group called The Switching Post. But then my computer and editing software decided to explode...and things were just awful. AWFUL. I actually started considering just writing off the end of April and all of May. Bad bad times. But I am back at it, and slowly figuring all my new toys out! Might as well share these nails that have literally been trapped on my camera for weeks.

Cat Lady Nails

I used Turtledoves as my base, and then dry-brushed some warmish tones to represent my taupey-brown jerk cat. She has gold eyes, so of course I had to throw in a little BeG in there. Then I clumsily drew paw prints and hearts...and a slightly frightened cat...with my Liquid Leather. I think it turned out pretty good, and I am sad that I couldn't have shared it with my Switching Post partner.

And here is the furry fuckface ball of love and totally not murder herself. Her normally super-sunshiny disposition is evident from her perpetually pleased expression...right? Honestly though, she's mad as sin because shes been on a diet for a three months now. She is a big cat, and when we started she was a whopping 18lbs. I would guess she weighs about 16lbs now, which is about what the vet thinks she ought to be. I worry about her...she is 12 years old now, and I don't want her to spend her twilight years being hangry.

Like I mentioned above, I have a new photo editing suite. THAT I PAID FOR. No really, I am using Creative Cloud now. I like it...but it's weird. Everything is in a different spot now. I am that old woman who is mad because her favorite restaurant remodeled. It is change and I hate change. But...I can do fun things now like this:

Now that you've seen the depths of my nuttiness, go check out the post that was supposed to have been posted instead of this one. Chelsea over at Smackerlacquer did an adorable manicure dedicated to her goofy pup and I love it to pieces.

  1. I'm way more excited about this post than I should be. Today is my massive jerk cat's 13th birthday! He's just under 20 pounds himself but should be closer to the 16-17 pound range according to the vet also. He yeowls all night in protest if he feels underfed. He is the ultimate alpha male douche but I love him to pieces anyway.

    1. awwww. We celebrate this jerkballs birthday tomorrow. Feel free to email/msg me and we can chat about fatcat food and stuff. My poor cat has been on a "diet" for years and this new food is the first time shes actually lost weight and not just driven us to drink with her screams.

  6. Haha my cats give me hangry face too, usually about 2 hours before their dinner.
Love your nailart and the base is perfect!

  7. Sorry you had a tough time, but I LOVE this nail art! The background, the kitty, everything.
My cat has also been on a bit of a diet the past few months. Now it seems he's only friends with me at those times he knows he's going to get food! At least he asks nicely :-P

  8. Thank you for making me completely fall over laughing. My cat woke me last night by using my face as a launching pad, so this post completely captured the love/annoyed relationship I have with all of my little fuckfaces, er, bunny-butts. And your free-hand art is gorgeous, darling. :)

  12. First: AWESOME CAT LADY NAILS!
Second: You should print out that cat pop art on 90x90 (cm) plexiglas and hang it on a wall in your house. It's a statement. I adore it.

  13. This mani gives me so much happy!!

  14. Super cute nails - and beautiful kitty IRL! I have a dog that has been trying to drop weight, per vet's orders, and while I'm happy he's healthy, I worry that he's hangry too!!

Also, my husband is a professional videographer and designer and he swears by CC! Hope you enjoy it!

  15. These nails are great! I love the dry brush look. The cat is just icing on the cake. We have a cat who refuses to lose weight. She just embraces her body. Her name is Monica (after Friends) so we just call her Fat Monica. Our underweight cat actually eats more than Monica and is the one who is hangry the most. haha They are both little assholes.

  16. 16lbs is about what my fattest, ehrm biggest cat weights. But she is obviously overweight, she's like a round ball instead of having a cat shape any longer. I am quite worried about her but my mother won't stop feeding her.
Anyhow, that nail art is adorable!

  18. I've tried drawing a little cat on my nails before -- it's a lot harder than I thought it would be, but it turned out decent. Yours looks fab, though! Totally awesome manicure!

  21. I love the dry-brushed base! The expression on your kitty's face... it's on my face too, now that I'm on a dairy-free, bland vegetable-centric diet.
