OPI Alcatraz Rocks vs WnW Los Feliz Navidad

When I posted Wet 'n' Wild Los Feliz Navidad a while back, more than a few folks said that it might be a dupe for OPI Alcatraz Rocks. I realized that I had it in my untrieds...so I decided to break it out and compare the two!

OPI Alcatraz Rocks vs WnW Los Feliz Navidad

Los Feliz Navidad is an indigo texture with a mix of small and large glitters. It is opaque in two coats and heavily textured.

Alcatraz Rocks is a more violet shade, with a less diverse collection of glitters. The texture is a bit smoother as well.

In the bottle, they are very different. The WnW has a brighter look to it, and is much more reflective. The OPI is a darker, moodier feeling, with all the sparkle and shift subdued by the deep base.

On the nail, they are totally different. I was not expecting them to be this different.

ring and pinky: Los Feliz Navidad

They look the most similar in the macro pictures. You can see that they have a similar shift to them, even though the colors are different. It is almost like the WnW is a faded version of the OPI

The tl;dr is that these are half-sisters, at best. Definitely not dupes. But if you are pressed for cash, then I would recommend the Wet 'n' Wild. It is less than three bucks (without coupons) and it does the job well enough.

I guess for a texture...they are both ok. I guess.

  3. I like the darker one (OPI) best (i'm such a fall/winter color gal). The WnW does look like a spring color - that softer texture.

  11. None of the places around me sell the specialty WnWs. I had no idea they had done textured polishes. I have Alcatraz though so I'm good.

  13. Gah! I CANNOT go back to mainstreams while still buying indies. The OPI sits unloved in my Helmer, too, and now I feel guilty.
