40 Great Nail Art Ideas: Mermaids + Orange, Purple, and Green

(promotional samples ahead)

What is a nail art challenge without doing something I have never tried before? Go big or go home...right? Well, when I started really thinking about "green + orange + purple + mermaids" I could only think of one thing...Ariel. It had to be. But I wasn't sure which way I wanted to go...so I went the craziest way. I am actually glad I did.

I fully blame Narmai for this. I don't know if I would have attempted something this involved if not for her. In fact, I initially intended to do something completely different...but I have no patience and inspiration struck.

I only have a small paint set, and I was too lazy to get my craft paints...so the purple here is a hand mixed shade that turned out quite plummy-violet. But its there, by the gods. I think this ticks all the boxes for the challenge in a way that is completely new for me. You might see more hand-painted stuff in the future. It is strangely satisfying and relaxing.

    1. I HAVE! I bought one at Costco. I want to get some nice pens to do it. All I have is some watercolor pencils, and they just aren't cutting it. I'll take any recs for pens you have.

    2. Have you tried Barnes and Noble? I bought both my coloring book and markers there. The markers came in a set of 10 and are double-ended; one end is a fine marker and the other is a felt tip. I personally prefer the felt-tip end, because the ink comes out more evenly and it's like painting with a paintbrush, and it puts less stress on my hand. Here's the link if you need it: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/home-gift-brush-markers-multi-colored-set-of-12/18056934?ean=9780641997518 Hope I helped!
