Psyche Minerals is bringing the perfect pair for this month's Polish Pickup. Red Carpet events are the best place for makeup and fashion, and a soft smokey eye is a classic look...especially paired with a good red lip.
(promotional samples ahead)
This duo is a pretty pairing of a satin mushroom taupe and a ultra-glam peachy champagne. I was instantly drawn to the mushroom color. It is glamorously soft and satiny, like the robe of a femme fatale draped over a dressing table bench. The peachy neutral is a universally flattering sparkler that is like actual champagne bubbles trapped in time.
Let's start with the champagne. It is sparkle-packed and great as an accent color on people who are on the fair end of the color spectrum. I patted it on with a wet brush over my iris, and it gave me a happy sparkle behind my glasses. It is very sheer, which makes it a little more universally acceptable. I think on medium and deep skintones, this could be great on its own, without any other shades. A quick swipe and instaglam would be achieved.
This mushroom taupe is my jam. I love satin shadows, especially as I get older. They give me a sparkle, but without making my eyelids look like a withered apple. This reminds me of a Make Up For Ever shade that I love, but indie is generally preferred for me when I can get it. I would love to see this on someone with a true olive undertone. I think it would bring the rosier tones in this shade to the forefront, and really make some hazel/warm brown eyes dazzle. But I think that taupes are pretty much made for everyone.
These swatches are done over Nyx Proof It! Waterproof Primer. Which is not kidding at all. These swatches survived a shower. You can see where the shadow sheers out on my bare skin vs the primer. It is pretty intense for drugstore primer.
And here is the duo on my face! I laid the taupe down on the moving part of my lid and buffed it up and out. I also used the tiniest bit under my lower lashes, instead of eyeliner. It is a real lazy version of a smokey eye that works for pretty much every eye shape. I patted the champagne over the center of my lid and into the corner to brighten things up. I really enjoyed how nicely the taupe blended out, though there was a tiny bit of fallout. Not a ton, but a bit. The champagne is really sparkly, so beware of the glitter cheeks. A little silicone primer on your finger will clean most of it up.
