Once again, I am wearing nail polish! This quasi-retirement is working for me, yall. My choice for this week is a thermal that I grabbed from the Polish Pickup a few months back from Lucky 13 Lacquer. It has been lurking in the back of my mind, and I decided there was zero reason for me not to wear it.
This is an aquatic teal jellyish thermal filled with shimmer and shifting iridescent flakes. I am a long-time fan of teals in general, so it should surprise no one that I grabbed this shade. What is surprising to most folks who know me is that I chose a thermal. I am notoriously not the biggest fan of thermals. Having very cold hands means that I don't always see both shades without a little visit from Mr. Hair dryer, and being a lazy person...I am not going to put effort into wearing something that won't even work for me. But this one is pretty reactive, and I love both states.
This is a non-arranged swatch picture of the warm state. What I mean by that is that I didn't do anything extra to see the shift to the lighter teal. I did my nails, and then my daughter asked me to straighten her hair. (yay I'm needed!) So my hands warmed up from being in her toasty hair and just from general activity. It is only beat by having a warm shower, which is next on my list for the day.
I love the subtle, natural gradient. I really hope that the after-shower look is similar. When I first applied this shade, I was worried that the two coats required were going to hide what few flakes I could fish out (this had been sitting in a drawer for a while. I thought all the flakes had settled) but I was surprised at how many really were lurking in the depths. I can't believe that I still have to remind myself after all this time, but don't let the bottle fool you. They were subtle shades when cold, but glowed once my hands warmed up.
Isn't it lovely. I feel like the most glamorous sea witch. Which, frankly, is one of my top-ten aesthetics.
Did you grab this shade when it was available? If you did, tag @bedlambeauty on instagram so I can see your picture too. I am curious how it looks on other folks!
