Seventy Seven Nail Lacquer has chosen my favorite video game as her inspiration for the Polish Pickup this month. There are very few video games that have had such an impact on my life as this one, and I guarantee there will be a little nostalgic fangirling in this post.

This is a dark, rich royal purple filled with pink and blue sparking flakes and a dusting of holo. It needs thin coats to really show off that sparkle, and I used three very thin ones here followed by a layer of Seche Vite.
This polish is inspired by the modern classic Halo: Combat Evolved and the titular character Master Chief. He actually wears a pearly olive drab suit of armor with a goldenrod reflective visor, but Ms Connie spied some fan art that showed the Chief in a rainbow of purples and pinks. Which I am not 100% offended by, if I'm honest. This color palette is pretty fitting considering one of the enemy forces in the game. Almost all the Covenant ships were shades of violet, fuchsia, and blue...so this is just perfect. I think I might have called it Truth and Reconcilliation though.
This game was so much fun. It came out as a launch title for the Xbox, and one of the reasons that I even got interested in any game other than The Sims. I fell in love with the first-person-shooter genre, and the Halo universe in particular. We used to have some complicated LAN parties to play with friends across the country, before multiplayer ruined the FPS landscape. Then, when Xbox Live became a thing, Halo was a way for my coworkers and I to blow off steam (and blow each other up) after work. I remember during the Halo 3 beta, I was 10,000 months pregnant and just pounding on people in deathmatches...in between bathroom breaks. I missed the end of the beta because that darned kid arrived 12 days early. I was so heartbroken when Bungie left...and handed the Chief over to 343. The game really fell apart, and I haven't even played 5 yet. But every now and then, I dust off Combat Evolved and just revel in the nostalgia.
This polish, and 400,000 others, will be available on June 01, 2018 at 11am eastern at the Polish Pickup. It is probably the polish I feel the deepest connection to thus far. Are any of the shades plucking at your nostalgia strings this month, or are you just drawn to the shiniest?
