Top Shelf Lacquer is ready for Springtime...are you? I definitely am, because this rain and wind nonsense here on the central coast is just...nonsense. I'm over it. I'm gonna live vicariously through my fresh-colored fingernails instead.
Beer Pong | two coats
This is a cool pink with a sprinkle of gold holo and a pale blue glow. You see the blue as a flash in the bottle, but on my nails it just served to cool the color down. It is a bit bubblegum for my tastes, but I kinda don't hate it. It is a good, solid shade that I think will actually flatter a lot of different skin tones...even mine.
Kings Cup | two coats
Ok, this one is slightly more my speed. The shop describes this as a salmon...but I dunno about that. I think it reminds me of strawberry milkshakes which are, in my mind, quite apart from salmon. The formula is just the same on this one: creamy but not quite. I kinda like the speckled finish in this color.
Drink a-Palooza | three coats
This is a sunshine, lemony yellow filled with gold shimmer and holo. It is speckled too, which I like...but I don't like yellow on me. It is a personal quirk, and I can't seem to get around it. This color also seemed to be affected by the rainy weather, and I needed an extra coat to get it to behave. It is a really pretty color, and I like it much better on literally everyone but me.
Drunk Jenga | two coats
Now this is more like it, for my taste. This is a pastel mint that depressingly does not taste nor smell like mint chocolate chip ice cream. But I like the touches of holo and shimmer, so I will forgive it. If I have to wear pastels, I like them to be like this one. Looking at these pictures I do see a bit of VNL, but I promise it wasn't as obvious in normal light. I would definitely not use more than two coats here.
Spin the Bottle | two coats
This is a warm sky blue dusted with gold shimmer and holo. It definitely is the creamier than the rest of the collection, and I think that is why it behaved so badly in the cold damp of my house (seriously, guys. It has been raining for 100 years. I think my neighbors are building some kind of boat) I know it is the weather making it misbehave because I swatched these on one nail when they arrived and they were perfection.
Quarters | two coats
This is a chambray blue speckled cream with two different colors of holo glitter. I feel like this may be the most modern of the whole collection. If you love wearing the soft chambray shirts...you need this shade. The formula was defiant in the face of humidity, and I think it did the best as well. It is a bit of a trial by fire rain in my house for polish lately.
Drunk, Drunk, Goose | two coats
Ok, so I am biased. Y'all know I love perwinkle to a ridiculous level. This one has a twinkle of gold holo glitter and a royal flash that brings this shade towards blue on my nail. I love it. It was another that defied the weather for me. Looking at my swatches now, as I type, is making me want to break it back out.
Never Have I Ever | two coats
Maaaaaaaaaybe this one is also my favorite. Close on the heels of periwinkle is this blown out purple/rose shade for my all-time favorite polish colors. I tend to buy these like they are gonna save my life one day. The speckles and gold holo really set this one apart in my collection, too...which is kinda making a serious statement at this point guys. It has a slight cool red glow to it in the bottle, and I...I just like it. If you like neutral shades, this one is for you.
Flip Cup | two coats
Ahhh lilac with a kick. This looks like a muted neon, if that makes sense. The blue flash really complements the cool pale violet. This one is just slightly more sheer than the others, and my ultra bright lights really burn through the layers. Unless you are under bright-ass lights, you'll get perfect opacity in two coats. I feel like this shade is what I would choose if I were forced to celebrate Easter.
Truth or Shots | two coats
Another unusual neutral! This is like salt & pepper on my nails...plus sparkles. How can you go wrong? I like this one more than most taupe-based polishes because it reads a little cooler against my skin than most. Often these shades go warm...which just makes me and the polish look green. No, thanks. I do think this shade flatters people with a darker skintone especially well, so if you're not pale like me this is definitely a good neutral to look into.
For a collection of pastels, I was surprised to find a few true favorites here. I am not exactly known to be a lover of all things soft and feminine...but I could easily choose more than three here that I think are must have shades. These are all available right now in the Top Shelf shop. Which one is your favorite?
I need that yellow! Top shelf seems to be releasing a ton!
