Top Shelf Lacquer has created a shimmering quartet of punched-up springtime colors. They are versatile and brilliant...and definitely good if you are under the gray cloud of winter-rain like we are currently. Sometimes, you need something sparkly and loud to lift the spirits.
(promotional samples ahead)
Technically Alcohol is a Solution | three coats
This happy sparkler is a bright, cool pink jellied shimmer filled with holo twinkles and it has a warm pink shift at the edges. It reminds me of watching hard candy be pulled...though I would not recommend eating this one. Each coat is pretty sheer, but you definitely want that in a polish like this. Each layer glows from beneath the one above. And really, who can resist a good pink?
Let the Evening Be GIN! | three coats
This is a medium green with a cool juniper shift. Definitely ginly, for sure. I am not wild about greens in general, but there is something really fun and nostalgic about this one. It kind-of reminds me of the classic WnW greens...but better. The formula is jellied, and perfectly matched for the amount of holo glitter.
Time Flies When You're Having RUM! | three coats
So this one might be my favorite of the bunch, and once you see it over black you will see why. It is a perfect tropical teal blue with a surprise lavender-periwinkle flash at extreme angles. I would call this a multichrome, because I don't know that tri-chrome is a thing...yet. This jelly shifts from the forward-facing teal to a cool, icy aqua and then down to that hybrid purple. And once this beauty is layered over another color, it really starts the party.
Call Me Old Fashioned | three coats
This is a classic, true, royal purple. It is super flashy and reflective...even apart from the holo twinkles. It is the most opaque of all four shades, but it is still has a nice jelly squish. I think this particular shade is the most universally appealing. If you are shopping for a gift for someone who is not
insane into polish to the level we are, this would be the shade to draw them in.
My favorite thing here, guys, is what this quartet looks like over black. They become a whole different creature...especially that teal.
Here is my happy little swatch video! One note about the video, though. I did slightly thinner coats in the video than I did for normal swatches. I wanted to see if maybe the sparkles would step up a bit in the mix...and they do. So basically you can do three different looks with each polish. You can't beat that with a stick, for sure.
This collection releases tomorrow evening in the Top Shelf shop! Do you have a favorite? I think I am in love with that teal...followed closely by the pink. But that is no surprise to anoyne, I'm sure. Let me know your choice in the comments!
