Baroness X Wax Christmas Mistletoe | Post-Melt Review

Baroness X makes everything. Lotion, balms, acetone additives, stunning polish...and now scented wax. I have been testing out her wax for a while, and I think I can say I am a fan. I love home fragrances in general, and shes got some fun and fresh combos.

I have been an incense/candles/oil fan forever. My grandmother burned inscense and candles constantly when I was growing up, a habit she learned from her grandmother. I followed in the family tradition and fell in love with all things fragrant. As a teenager, incense and candles definitely fit into my Stevie Nicks fangirl esthetic. Now that I am an adult, I have broadened my horizons with scented wax. Of course, I am jumping right into the deep end with indie wax.

The wax scent I have been testing is Christmas Mistletoe. In fact, it is currently in two of my warmers right now. It has a warm, cozy, inviting scent...though not totally Christmas for me. I smell notes of sweet spice, fire/smoke, and fresh trees. I feel like it is the perfect post-holiday wintry scent.

This particular wax isn't colored, and I think that may be a one-off. The other cups I have from her are beautifully colored and include shimmers and glitters. I honestly don't mind the lack of color. It still smells pretty.

texture: it is a scoopable wax, and therefore is very soft and sticky. It definitely sticks to my spoon. I have been doing some research, and waxes of this texture are superior for blending your scents.

throw: excellent. My entire downstairs was softly scented after melting this small amount (about a tablespoon) within an hour. I hopped in the shower, and when I got out I could smell it in my bedroom upstairs as well. It wasn't heavy or cloying, and my husband did not complain.

cost per ounce: $1.25 USD. Her tarts are about 1.6oz, and they retail for $2 currently.

repurchase: hell to the yes. I don't see this scent currently on her list, but she mixes them up all the time.

I wanted to make a video of this wax melting, and with the help of my cell phone (what wonders those are these days!) However, I made it at night and once the video sped up, you can see the cycling of my lights! So apologies for that, but the next one will be better!

I expect this will be the first of many smelly posts. In keeping with my resolution, I'll be sharing more of my hobbies with you guys. Hopefully you'll enjoy them as much as I do.

What is your favorite way to scent your house?

  2. Can you add in info about cure time? How long did you cure your wax before you melted it?

  3. I definitely care more about smell than color!

  4. I’m a huge candle fan. I’m trying so hard not to get into wax!

  5. I'm also a huge candle fan, but I've never tried wax melts. How long does the scent last after it's completely melted? I know you said after an hour, you could already smell it upstairs!

    1. I left it burning all day long, and the scent was still good for that whole time. (I generally turn my burner off at midnight or so, so it had been going for 14 hours or so). It was still faintly there in the morning.

  8. They really do make everything, don't they? And I bet it's as amazing as their polishes.

  9. That sounds amazing! I jumped on the oil diffuser train but that fizzled out already. Maybe it's time to dust off my wax melter!

  13. I’ve always loved candles. I tried to make the switch to wax a year ago.. I bought lots of wax and a very pretty warmer. It still hasn’t made it out of the box. :)

  14. We regularly use candles & incense at homes as a tradition..Great info on the product you have introduced

  15. I generally don't pay too much attention to colours and glitter for this sort of thing as it is the scent that matters to me. I've not really gotten into wax melts, and I'm sure it doesn't help that I've had a few warmers that have disappeared on me.

  16. I’m trying so hard to fight of the wax temptation but I’ll probably try these sometime.

  17. The smells are definitely the most important part of wax burning, how long was the wax cured for? How far does the smell travel?

  18. I love home fragrance in all forms, but only recently started using wax (my go-to is oils). I'll have to check this brand out.
