Vapid Lacquer Black Friday-Stravaganza 2017

Vapid Lacquer is killing it (and us) for Black Friday this year. I don't know how she keeps coming up with fresh things, all while still keeping true to the vibe we all know and love...and don't even get me started on the revamps of old classics. You'll just have to scroll through to see the fun.

Krampus | two coats + Seche Vite
Who has two thumbs and didn't know this one was a thermal until later? If you guessed me, you guessed right. I am not a rocket surgeon guys...plus is was super cold in my house while swatching. (A clever reader will notice how red my fingertips look in some of these pictures.) The formula on this one was so nice. In its cold state, it is a perfect black cherry red almost-jelly filled with golden flakes. It has a nice cozy glow to it that I love. Even without the shift (which is a bright cherry red, by the way), it is a lovely and wearable vampy shade. I think this baby definitely needs a swatch video.

Slay Bells | two coats + Seche Vite
This sexy bright cranberry red is filled with holo sparks and a slight duochrome shift. I would venture to call this a dirty holo, because it definitely has that kind of feel. Some people have likened this to Firestarter, and while the formula is similar, Slay Bells has a burning shift and a much more berry depth. I'll have to dig my bottle out and compare them. But if you enjoy reds, you'll love this one. I

Santa Baby | two coats + Seche Vite
Do you prefer classic shades? Then this creamy, true red holo is for you. This is a classic shade that immediately reminds me of refined ladies and lipstick in metal tubes. It has a soft scattered holo, just to give it a little life and sparkle. The only other Vapid shade I can compare this to would be Reindeer Games...but that guys is far more holo and a lot less creamy. I love reds like Santa Baby. It is the most flattering across the largest swath of folks. If you wanted to get a glamor gal (or guy) in your life into indies, this might be the shade to start them out on.

Gilver '17 | two coats + Seche Vite
This is a soft, glowing champagne-ish holo. It isn't really champagne, but its not silver nor gold...hurr maybe thats why its called "Gilver"? It's like a soft yellow gold, and the scattered holo gives it a platinum edge...I dunno. It is hard to explain. It applies really nice and smooth, and it is so opaque that I bet it would stamp moderately well in the right hands. I think it could even be a one-coater if I were a little more careful in my application...but me being me, I added an extra for safety.

Umbrageous | two coats + Seche Vite
This is a nice warm Douglas Fir green with a soft scattered holo top. I know that, historically, I have not been the biggest fan of warmer greens. They tend to enhance the red in my skin and give me an overall "Lobster Chic" vibe. But this one I actually like. It has a decidedly Holiday Season vibe, without being right up in your face with Christmas. It would be nice for a few trees and maybe some Santa faces...if you're into that sort of thing.

Gin Tastes Like Pine Trees '17 | two coats + Seche Vite
This is a satin-ribbon deep green. It has a blackened base swirling with deep forest shimmers. It definitely looks alive while you apply it. For my skin tone this one is slightly less wearable than Umbrageous, but I am a fussbucket about greens. I do like the spruce tone to this one, and the super formula makes up for any shortcomings I may see in this one. If you have shorter nails, this one might be a one-coat-wonder for you.

Winter Midnight '17 | two coats + Seche Vite
This is the year for comebacks at Vapid. This deep, vivacious navy is full of sparkle and shimmer. The slightly jellied formula gives the white sparks a life and variance of color that really appeals to the nail-arteest in my soul. I know a lot of people like to mattify finishes like these, but all I want to do is add more gloss. It looks like a bottomless pool of still water, filled with little fishes.

Disambiguation | three coats + Seche Vite
Hellooooo thermal-polish-I-didn't-forget-about! I saw swatches of this baby before I got to it, so I knew she was a shifter. I actually did a live swatch/shift video for my totally abandoned YouTube Channel. You should check it out, because this sucker is pretty impressive. It is a lovely warm purple in its cool state, medium and happy...reminding me of the purple shade my kids knock-off Duplo blocks my kids had back in the day. In the warm state, it is a tropically serene aqua. The flakes are electric blue that shift through to vibrant violet. I actually ended up wearing this for a few days after swatching because it was such fun.

Dusky | two coats + Seche Vite
This deep, moody shade reminds me of a blueberry. It has that deep, luscious blue with a slight violet glow in places with a dusty muted veil across it. Just like a ripe, fresh blueberry.  I am really feeling this particular color lately, and this baby will be on my toes very soon. It is modern and clean, but that purple satiny shimmer keeps it from being boring and stuffy. The formula on this one was definitely the thickest of all the shades I swatched this time around. I bet I could make this one stamp decently well if I tried and wasn't mad as hell at stamping in general right now.

Violet <3's Snowflakes | two coats + Seche Vite
I am biased when it comes to this one. This matches almost exactly the color of my hair at this very moment. (Iro Colors Iro Violet, if you're curious). This is a deep blue-violet jelly filled with flakes. It has a depth and life that, sadly, my hair does not. But the lovely, lively base color is the best thing ever. I generally paint my nails black before/immediately after, but next time I think I'll go with this color. No one will know if I've stained my fingers (again)!

Happy Freakin' New Year '17 | two coats + Seche Vite
The holo to end all holo. HFNY is always a silver, blinding holo...but this year theres a saucy shift. This is a linear holo filled with holo flakes. It's amazing and crazy. Then theres a warm peachy gold shift, like dawn sliding across the surface of snow (or so I've seen in pictures). I could babble on forever...but lets just say you need it. NEED. IT.

Black Friday '17 | three coats + Seche Vite
This is a bit of a departure from last years model...and I dig it. It is a black jelly filled with coppery iridescent hexes that shift at the edges. Its a polish that makes you want to waggle your fingers. If you look at my ring finger, you'll see what it looks like when you layer a single coat over a black cream. It makes it a little flatter, but you will use less of the precious that way, and it definitely gives it a more inky finish. This formula behaved quite well, considering the crazy humidity we experienced here when I was swatching this shade. I love a good black polish, always.

Whew! Are you still with me? That is a lot of polish...and we didn't even talk about the bath'n'body or wax products that will be restocked. This is Vapid's big restock for the year, and there will be a bunch of stuff launching late on Thanksgiving/early Black Friday morning. I suggest you join the fab group on Facebook so you can find out all about the yet-to-be-announced discounts and specials.

Good luck and good shopping!
