Vapid Lacquer went and created a Through the Looking Glass collection. Annnnnnd of course I forgot to post my review. I should be wearing "I'm Late" perpetually. A bunch of the shades are still available, so it is still worth posting. Plus, these are fabulous and amazing.
(promotional samples ahead)6 Impossible Things
This is a proper multichrome with a universe of holo dust sprinkled across. The formula is almost a jelly, and it really gives is a deep generous squish. I gotta say, kids, that I am loving the new generation of multichromes. I am not one for layering. I don't know why...but I'm bad at it. But these newbies happily go commando. Back to the polish at hand: its pretty neat. The squishy formula keeps the brush strokes to a minimum, and I used three coats plus a layer of Seche Vite for the pictures here.
And look, I'm layering. I know...I read what I just wrote...but for some shades I make exceptions. Like this one. This shifting, shimmering iridescent topper is a polish enhancer. I slapped on a zombie-like gradient of Swayed (swatch to come, I grabbed it during the last restock) and Netflix & Chill. I love how the subtle gradient enhances the purple shift of I'm Late. In the second picture, I applied one coat to Nonsense. I even kinda dig that. I also included a nail wheel shot, because I couldn't decide which cream I liked best with this pretty thing. Basically, it looks good, no matter what you do.
The makes my black heart flutter. It is a blackened base with a rosy shift. And teal. And violet...yeah. Its a multichrome shift, yall. It also has tiny multichrome flakes and a healthy dose of holo glitter. The formula is really similar to 6 Impossible Things, and I like that. Because this base is slightly heavier, I only needed two coats plus a layer of Seche Vite for the pictures here.
This is the sophisticated grown-up of this collection. It is a lovely cool wine-violet super shimmer. You'll spy tiny flakes twinkling pink and blue in the base, and it gives it a really lively finish. I was worried because microflakes can be a beast, but this one was pretty easy as far as clean-up goes. Application was a cinch too, and I used two normal coats plus a layer of Seche Vite here.
Not All There Myself
Where Nonsense was cool and violet leaning, this sucker is all burgundy and vamp. But otherwise pretty similar in every respect. The formula is just as good, the finish is just as dynamic, and I needed the same two coats plus Seche Vite here. I think this could be a really great everyday kind of color for a whole lot of folks. Or a nice Mother's Day gift...ahem.
Whoooo are Youuuuu?
Was this collection feeling a little tame? Well, not anymore. This dazzling green multichrome is filled with holo sparks. Honestly, this is the most akin to a Dirty Holo as any regular polish Vapid has ever put out. It reminds me of a disco lizard...but in the best way possible. I was only able to catch the pinky violet shift and the vibrant green shift...but there is also a soft peach shift that pops up here and there. The formula has a delightful squish, and I used two coats plus a layer of Seche Vite for these pictures.
Do you forgive me for being tardy? I can't believe I flaked so hard this time around! I swear it wasn't any subconscious desire to keep these for myself. A healthy chunk of this collection is still available in the Vapid shop, so go grab you a few!
