Night Owl Lacquer With Fronds Like These, Who Needs Anemones • Polish Pickup June 2017 • Under the Sea

Night Owl Lacquer is another one of the amazing brands joining the Polish Pickup for June. She participated last month (Science!) and I thought that was the best it could get. Oh man...it just keeps getting better!

This months shade for the Under the Sea theme is a brilliant cobalt blue squish filled with pinky violet and icy flakes, all dusted with a delicate layer of holo sparkle. It is definitely evocative of the inspiration picture right away. The holo sparkle makes me think of the way water bends the light when you swim, and the flakes make me wonder if there aren't actual anemones in here...Pretty sure there aren't, but I am keeping my eye on them. If any clownfish show up, you guys will be the seventh or eighth to know.

The formula was really smooth and easy to work with. It does have a jelly-like squish, and I think that is appropriate not only for the inspiration but for the finish. I used three thin coats (plus Seche Vite) and I love the aquatic vibe. You can see different levels with the flakes and sparkle...I would love to see this as a middle layer in a proper jelly sammich.
