Great Lakes Lacquer and Octopus Party Nail Lacquer teamed up for an amazing quartet to celebrate Mardi Gras 2017. Sadly, I missed being able to post this while it was still available to purchase...but I can't not share the pictures. These polishes are too good to miss.
(promotional samples ahead)
Great Lakes Lacquer Faith
This is a true, magical, disco forest on my nails. This deep green shimmer borders on metallic. I think this is a really great season-spanning color. I can see this being a great summer shade especially. I love a good, unexpected vamp in the sunshine. The formula was exactly what I have come to expect from GLL, and I used two normal coats plus a layer of Seche Vite here.
Great Lakes Lacquer Get Your Mask On over Faith
This is the ultimate multichrome flake topper. Everyone can stop now (notreallypleaseshinies) because this one is amazing. It has two different kinds of flakes plus a healthy dusting of holo. Basically this means that in all lighting situations, you're fingers will be amazing. I layered it over Faith, and I love how it brought out the fuchsia shifters. I applied two normal coats over all of my fingers except for my ring, on which I used a sponge to apply the flakes. This sucker is so dense, it is not immediately easy to tell the difference.
Octopus Party Nail Lacquer Justice
I feel like it has been too long since I've had OPNL on the blog. Dave seems to wait until I'm on vacation/hiatus/my deathbed to release colors. I swear he's trying to give me the boot. Too bad for him, I am a stage IV clinger. This is a warm, plummy violet holo sprinkled with two different kinds of multichrome flakes. It definitely has that glow that you expect from the purple end of the spectrum, and the jellyish formula just gives it an extra boost. I swear it has a soft gold glow at certain angles, and the flakes remind me of seeing discarded beads on Bourbon Street at twilight. I used three thin coats plus a layer of Seche Vite for the pictures here.
Octopus Party Nail Lacquer Peace & Karats over OPNL Justice
When Dave puts his mind to something, he really knocks it out of the park. He has been dreaming of a true gold flake topper forever, and it has finally come to life here. This is a 24k gold flake topper. It will definitely give any manicure a little more jazz. The base in this one is a bit thicker than average, but because it really does need to be in order to keep those delicate little flakes suspended properly. This is definitely a dabber instead of a regular swiper. I used two normal swipes below, and I think that the finished look, while amazing for photos, is too thick for me to wear normally. Next time, I will definitely do some dabbing or sponging. I'll be damned if it doesn't look luxe though.
This quartet is just amazing. Did you manage to grab it? I wonder if these shades will be available on their own...I hope Faith and Justice will make a reappearance some day. Maybe we can whisper in some ears?
