You are all about to exclaim Holy Shift!
There is a new box coming at you for Fall, and this one is definitely not your average collection of simple, pretty things. This box contains four stunning thermal
shades that make you happy to see the back-end of summer.
(promotional samples ahead)
Joy Lacquer This Shift is Bananas!
This is my first experience with Joy Lacquer (I have some in my untried drawer. Don't judge me.) Color me impressed, y'all. In its cool state this is a murky, mysterious teal with pinky-violet shifting shimmery things and maybe a dusting of holo twinkle. It was super easy to apply, and I only needed two coats for the pictures below. I did have a bit of VNL...but since this is a thermal I am totally ok with that.
When it gets warm it shifts to a vivid, almost tropical aqua. The dusky teal/brilliant aqua combo really reminds me of the ocean, and of course...you had me at "ocean". I am not a thermal expert but I found this one to transition quite easily, even under my normal layer of Seche Vite.
Supernatural Lacquer Shift for Brains
Again, another first for me. (and another brand that also sits, unloved, in my untried drawer.) This is a blackened oxblood filled with autumnal multichrome flakes all swirling around above a deep rose flash. It has a smoky, mysterious vibe in its cool state, which I find very appealing. I did find the formula to be very lush, thanks to the plethora of flaky goodness, but it was super easy to apply. I love polishes that do what they are told. I used two normal coats plus a layer of Seche Vite for the pictures here.
In its warm state, it fades to a sophisticated pale fawn color. Without the depth of the smoky base, the rose shimmer softens to a blush, and the flakes seem to shift to a warmer tone. I dunno, guys. Pretty sure this is magic. One thing to note about this shade: it shifts quickly. If your hands are warm, you'll see the magic almost immediately.
Fiendish Fancies Up Shift Creek
This is, yet again, a new brand for me. A total first, in fact. And what a great introduction. This plummy shimmer bomb is just...perfect. I am not at all objective when it comes to this range of shades. If it can be called "fuchsia" I will love it dearly. And this is an amazing example of fuchsia-spectrum goodness. I have to admit that when I saw the bottle, I thought "oh. Well...the color is nice enough. I guess." But once I applied it, I gasped. There are icy pink and blue sparks that just pop once you apply this shade. The shimmers dance and swirl...you need to see this one. You do. I used three thin coats here, plus a layer of Seche Vite.
Once this one warms...I swear it was made for me. It is the perfect, bright, happy fuchsia. Yay. I actually ended up wearing this one for a few days, and it shifted the whole time. It also shifted very quickly, as you can see in the pictures below. It wants to be fuchsia.
It did tint my nails a little bit when I removed it...but reds/fuchsia/violets tend to stain me. It is a fact of my life. It has been a good...four days since I initially removed it (at the time of writing) and the stain is completely gone. I didn't do anything weird to mitigate the stain, so I am chalking it up to a quirk of my personal chemistry. No one else I talked to experienced any staining. I'm just lucky that way.
Fair Maiden Shift Just Got Real
Aha! Finally a brand I have a baseline for! (although there is a ridiculous number of Fair Maiden shades in my untried drawer. PolishCon got serious, y'all) This soft, dusty twilight lavender is filled with gold and pink shimmer, a strong linear holo, and a sprinkle of larger coppery multichrome flakes. This is dignified. Grown-up. SFW. But fun. It applies just like you expect a FM shade to apply: like liquid silk across my nails. I used two normal coats and a layer of Seche Vite for these pictures.
Once this one warms up (and be advised: this one likes to shift as well) it fades into a peachy rose gold shade, shimmering and delightful. This really is like twilight and dawn in a bottle. I honestly don't know which state I prefer on this one.
Shift Just Got real is so perfect for autumn! I don't normally buy thermals because of the short shelf life, but this box is sooo tempting!ReplyDelete
I ordered this the other day! Thermals are fun - it's like two polishes in 1! :)ReplyDelete
The Supernatural and Fair Maiden make me so happy!ReplyDelete
Good Lord these look amazing and you make them look even more beautiful. The only thermal that I own is Sweaters n Demin--mostly because I am always sad to think that they will lose their color changing qualities before I get to use them much. Out of all of these, my favorite is Fair Maiden Shift Just Got Real.ReplyDelete
Amazing! These all look SO good on you!ReplyDelete
