Good news everyone, Blue-Eyed Girl listens to us! Every year the nail world as a whole bemoans the pastel heavy season of Spring. We wish and mope for a deep, vivid, rich collection...and now we have one. This one was inspired by a Flight of the Conchords song than I guarantee you've heard...which makes me want to find out more about that show.
(promotional samples ahead)
This shade is a delighfully dark inky blue. I can see this being the sexy sexy background for a galaxy manicure...or maybe another installment of The Planets. I used two thin coats plus a layer of Seche Vite here, but a thicker coat could definitely be used. I just prefer thin coats.
Rent Boy
This is the oxblood I have been searching for. It is slightly cooler than the average shade, and I absolutely love that. The formula is a tiny bit thinner than the rest of this formula, though I think you can still make this a one coater pretty easily. I used two thin coats plus a layer of Seche Vite for these photos.
Robo Aggression
UUUugh, you guys know how I feel about gray. This perfect medium toned gray is just about everything I love about this color. For me, this was basically a Goldilocks formula, and I used one totally average coat plus Seche Vite for these photos.
Too Many Misters
This blackened forest green is just...perfect. I know, I know...but I like it. I used this as a base for some Oakland Athletics inspired nail art (and its still on my fingers at the time of writing this) and it was just wonderful. I used two coats for this one,
We're Vincible
Holy shit, I'm wearing mustard. I'm wearing mustard and I like it. It does pull a little greenish on me, but I actually really dig this shade. It is very reminiscent of my childhood...anyone for a harvest gold dishwasher? The formula was delightful, and I used two coats plus a layer of Seche Vite for these photos.
Now that you've seen the swatches, which one is your favorite? Robo Aggression will always have first place in my heart...but then that Rent Boy...I can't choose just one. I can't.
authors note:I heard some whispers that some folks had a bit of an issue with application on these shades. I had no problem, and it was pretty warm/humid here when I swatched these. I generally consider any polish "problematic" if I can't perfect it with my regular seche vite...especially when it comes to creams. I did a couple of art looks too (which I'll share soon) and I found these polishes to be really well behaved. But it is important to read all the reviews so you can get an average idea of color/finish/application. All the swatchers live in such different climates...I figure if a polish behaves well in MN and CA, it is probably good stuff.
These are gorgeous! Loving the dark shades and your swatches are beautiful.
