Powder Perfect has become my go-to brand for ethereal, delicate, sparkly shades. Every color I have tried, even the bright ones, are still somehow perfectly soft and feminine. I don't understand it, but I suspect witchcraft. Or maybe a fairy godmother? Let's check out this recent collection before we pass final judgement.
(promotional samples ahead)
Cinder Soot
This is a soft, soothing cool cement gray filled with gold flakes and a dusting of holo. I admit that I cringed a bit when I saw this shade. I love gray...but creamy formula + flakes? Well, happily I am an idiot and this was delightful to apply. The brush controls the flakes effortlessly and I only needed two coats plus a layer of Seche Vite for these photos.
First Dance
This shade is the perfect shade if you find yourself in the desert and need a mirror for signalling for help or starting fires. It is super reflective, even without the shiny topper. This is a medium ocean blue foil that is just...crazy. Now, usually foils that are this reflective are a bit on the frothy side (ahem, Color Club) but this was another flawlessly smooth and easy formula. I used two thin coats plus a layer of Seche Vite here. You may notice that my ring looks a bit different. I actually sponged on the second coat for that finger just to see how it turned out. It definitely gives it a different feel.
Hazel Twig
This is a lovely, gentle jade green holo filled with tiny gold flakes. I don't know what I can say about this shade guys...it is just great. I feel like this is a great shade to wear through spring, and it'll make a fabulous accent for any summertime manicure. It definitely has a similarly shiny finish to First Dance, but it isn't quite on that level. But I still only needed two coats and some Seche Vite for these photos.
If the Slipper Fits
Well, lets all go home. This is my favorite right here. This is a rich vibrant lavender holo with shifting blue/violet flakes. I can't even with this color, kids. I used three coats, but I don't think I really needed it. If you spy the flash photo in the collage below (and the macros) the holo gives this a firey glow that just can't be beat.
Search the Kingdom
Ahh, the perfect pink cream. I love a good cream because the art possibilities are just endless. You can wear this shade a few days, then throw something fun on the top and go a few days more. This polish was easy and smooth and self-leveling. I barely needed two coats plus Seche Vite for these photos.
Turtledoves
Good god, but I love a good pale neutral. I have tons and tons of them, and not all of them good. Pale shades like this are so hard to perfect, which is why when I applied this shade to my first nail...I made my poor husband watch me apply to the next. He didn't understand what I was so excited about...but ya'll will. It was not chalky and streaky. It applied NOT LIKE A WHITE. What madness!? So yeah, expect this to pop back up a bunch. This ivory cream is about to get a workout. I used two coats plus Seche Vite here, and it was wonderful.
There you have it! A collection fit for a princess! I think that Turtledoves and If the Slipper Fits are my favorites, because they just knocked my socks right off. But First Dance is so damned shiny...I can't choose. Which one is your favorite?
These are all gorgeous but I'm semi obsessed with Hazel Twig. Beautiful swatches!
