I am a member of the Great Lakes Lacquer fan group on facebook. Until recently, I hadn't been lucky enough to add this brand to my collection, but I dig the atmosphere and the folks in there...and really that is the best reason to join any group. There was a group contest to write a limerick, and as I am rather well known for my poetic prowess, I gave my best try at a limerick. It was awkward...but funny enough because I won this glorious green!
(I won this)
So like I said, this is my first real-life encounter with this brand. I had zero opinions beforehand. I know that the owner/maker seemed like a genuinely decent human. All of my friends seemed to love the shades they had and I generally trust their opinion. So when I was told that my ridiculously silly limerick had won, I was pretty stoked to get the prize. Hell, I didn't even know what I was winning!
The wee package arrived shortly thereafter. It was carefully wrapped in tissue and bubble wrap, and there was a single business card in there. I do admit that I prefer the minimalism. Sometimes pimped out packaging is nice, but 90% of the time I just want that shiny. The bottles are light and petite...but still 15ml. I like how comfortably they fit into my palm for photos...so I can almost guarantee you'll see this brand again.
This is a jungle green (you know which crayon I mean) scattered holo filled with flakies and awesomeness. It has a slightly jelly feel when applying, and I think it gives is a really nice luminous finish. I used two normal coats plus a layer of Seche Vite.
My only regret is that my house is directly under a giant fogbank these days and I couldn't show you that sweet, sweet rainbow.
And now, my stupid poem. Because I know you were curious.
I love this color. It's such a pretty shade of green and I'm a sucker for shimmer! Great swatches!
ReplyDelete<3 And you really didn't win. Someone else did. I just sent this to those that participated. Cuz I felt like it. I still love you?
ReplyDeleteno way dude. Participation Trophies are still trophies.
DeleteWhere Mariah's polish is concerned, we are all winners. (Especially those of us who wrote limericks)

ReplyDeleteReally really love this polish. I've seen so many great swatches of this brand, I really would love to try it some time, I also really would love to win the lottery and sadly the former depends heavily on the latter ;)
Congrats on the win then! That green is gorgeous!
