Vapid Lacquer is on a roll. Now they have combined my love of nerdery and history with spectacular nail polish...so of course, now I have to ask Krys to marry me. Because she might be my favorite person in all of spring.
(promotional samples ahead)
Aphrodite
Aphrodite is the Greek goddess of love, beauty, pleasure and procreation. The Romans called her Venus, and she has a hellish planet named for her...and also now a perfectly peaceful speckled sky-blue polish. This icy shade is filled with super-fine shining azure shimmer that gives a speckled-egg (or maybe marble) appearance. This formula was smooth and easy, and I used two coats for the photos below.

Ishtar is the Babylonian goddess of love, war, sex, and fertility. She is also associated with the planet Venus. The polish a delicate cool pink with red shimmer. It reminds me of (american) smarties...but don't eat it. The formula was smooth and I used two coats foe the photos below.

Ostara
Ostara is the Germanic/Celtic namesake for the festival of Easter. I totally fell into wikipedia hell reading about this one, because there is so much cross-over between Germany and the British Isles over the last few millennia. The polish is a pale, sunshiny yellow with gold mica. This formula got a little upset with the humidity (what, 90% is too high?) but I still only needed two coats for the pictures below.
Persephone
Persephone is the Queen of the Underworld, daughter of Zeus and Demetre, and part-time captive of Hades. Her temporary release from the Underworld causes Demetre to rejoice and let springtime come back to the world. The polish version is a peachy neutral with pink mica. It absolutely reminds me of the softly peach-scented blush from Benefit. I used two easy coats for the pictures below.

Saraswati is the Hindu goddess of knowledge, music, arts, wisdom and learning. The polish is a perfect rich lilac filled with violet mica. It is, by far, my favorite of the shades. I used two smooth, thin coats for the photos below.

I don't know how this creamy pastel collection manages to be traditional and new all at the same time. Pastels for spring isn't exactly reinventing the wheel, but these simmering speckles really give these colors a fresh slant that will set these apart from the rest. Like I said, Saraswati is my favorite...which is yours?
