I love when a new brand comes out. Finding them, for me, is a thrilling hunt. Especially if I stumble across them before everyone else does. I think it is my inner Hipster, yearning to be free before it goes mainstream...While I feel bad about myself for that comment, lets look at some shiny!
When I heard my pal Francine was fixing to release a collection of polish, I was intrigued. She's been a huge help to me when it comes to polish and blog stuff, so I knew she knew her stuff. Then I saw swatches, and I knew I needed this pink shade. I actually got to meet her and Traci a while back and we had a great time. Francine was actually wearing a manicure featuring her shades, and she brought swatch wheels along as well. I ordered a bottle as soon as I got home. I am not sorry.
Tropical Paradise is a soft fuchsia » blue » violet multichrome filled with iridescent micro flakes. I used three whisper thin coats + Seche Vite here, but I think for normal wear two coats would be more than fine. The color reminds me of the "edgy" lip glosses I wore as a teen, but without the gritty glitter and vanilla smell. The shifts were impossible for me to catch, and I don't have a great matte coat (yet) to use on this, but I think it definitely needs it.
She came out of the gates with a bang. Not only does she have a full collection of shimmering duochromes in textured and regular finish, but she has a special top coat for textures, a matte top coat, a gloss top coat, a slightly tinted color correcting base coat, drying drops, a satin finish topper...jesus woman. Do you sleep? But what I am getting next is that black shade. After seeing it in person...oh my. Do need.
The packaging is adorable as well. The polish comes in its own clear plastic box printed with all the relevant info. It is tucked carefully into a wee box filled with paper "snakes" and bonus fun things and wee seashells. Living by the beach, shells are a little average (ohmygod I am a hipster) but they fit the tropical theme of the collection. I wonder if the additions will be changing with the themes? A holo magnet and a wee bottle of the drying drops were also included, as well as a thank you card. Overall, A+ for the packaging. The way these are packed up, I can see this being a great polish-centric Secret Santa gift.
I can't wait to see what the future holds for this brand and I really can't recommend it enough...though I am slightly biased because I think Francine is the bee's knees. Come and join the fangroup on Facebook so you can keep up-to-date on the happenings and sales!
