Ex Libris means "out of books". This new Fall offering from Baroness X is the fantasy collection that all you shimmering shift lovers have been waiting for. If you love the mythic Fantasy Fire, but want something more unusual and affordable, I highly recommend you keep reading. I think The Baroness has written you a love story.
Dulcinea
This is the iconic purple that we have come to know, love, and lust after. This glowing jelly polish applies slightly thicker than FF thanks to the addition of cool-toned iridescent flakes. I didn't have trouble with applying, and the flakes were happily free of pitting in the finished product. Like FF, without some sort of undies you will never completely hide the nail line, but I'm ok with that for the shade. I used three medium coats + Seche Vite for the pictures below.
I also layered it over black in the collage below. I love how it immediately changes.
Quixotic
This happy shade is a vibrant emerald green jelly filled with multichrome flakes and that same dazzling shifting pigment. Finally. We can have more than just that particular purple polish. With the metallic multichrome flakes and the strong gold showing of the pigment, this reminds me of some of my natural emerald jewelry (emerald is my birthstone), with their "flaws" embedded deep in the stone. I used three coats + SV here, and I think that was perfect.
Alhambra
Oh cobalt blue. I am sorry I denied you for so long. This is my surprise favorite of the collection. It is a vivid, searing blue jelly filled with tiny iridescent flakes and holo glitter. I never wanted to take this sucker off, and I am kinda mad at myself for not swatching this one last so I could wear it for a day or two longer. Shown below is three coats + SV and I was surprised at the lack of visible nail line.
Molino
Are you still on the prowl for the perfect Holiday Red? Let me muddy the waters a bit more then...with this warmish cranberry jelly. It is stuffed with multichrome flakies that twinkle like fairy lights when you flit your hands about in delight. This was the last one I swatched, and I ended up wearing it for a good three days without much wear and tear. I used three coats + SV below and I think that was just right.
Since I was young, I have dreamed about having multiple colors of that glorious Fantasy Fire shift. And now we do, thanks to Baroness X. I wish that this stuff could be holo-fied and I will definitely be experimenting with layering over all sorts of different bases...sigh. Let me know below which is your favorite shade.
oh, and as a silly bonus I made a phone wallpaper-sized image of Molino if you were looking for something fun and polish related. To save this, just open it in a new window/tab and save it. Easy peasy-lemon squeezy.
These are stunning, I wonder if a fine holo top coat would do good at holo-ing them! I am sooooo tempted by the green and the red!!!
