The Mini Manicurist: Petal to the Metal

It is no secret that I like nail polish. My kids always think of me when it comes to beauty products, nail polish in particular. So it should come as no surprise that both of them love shiny things...like nail polish. The lovely and glamorous Dave of OPNL  sent my girls their very first indie polishes...and of course the elder wanted me to take proper pictures. And thus, a new series was born.

The Mini Manicurist: Petal to the Metal

Look at her! My firstborn! She's even got her pose down pat. This is her very first time painting her own nails. Ever. I think she did a kick-ass job. It is easily 10,000X better than my first (or thirty-first) attempt at painting my own nails. She managed to get 98% of the polish on her hands...and with no practice at all. I am proud. I also can't believe she is eight.

She is far more committed to the cause than I am, she drew her own background for the pictures! I just use tissue paper and watercolor paper. This is what professionalism looks like. Beware the new generation, guys. It is coming for us.

The Mini Manicurist: Petal to the Metal

This will definitely become an irregular regular series on the blog, I can promise you. We are going to take a trip to Ulta (when we get our next coupon) and pick her up some proper supplies. I told her that if she keeps her room clean and takes care of her things, that we can make her a whole vanity/primping area. So far, so good.

  3. That's adorable! My wee one is 13, and I have mixed feelings about her and my indies stash. She's great at nail art, but once left one of my favorite indies open to dry out. I threatened to make her sleep on the back porch. She said that wasn't safe, and I agree. If it happens again, she'll be sleeping in the car. That way she can lock the doors. 😂 Your little did a great job at polishing, and that color is amazing on her...kudos!

    1. I have a whole stash of minis that I rarely use (I have giant hands) so I figure I can keep her out of my good stuff for a long time...plus I'm hoping to parlay this into clean rooms and no fighting!

Sleeping in the car is totally safe. I think she'll be fine!

  10. So cute! I did something like this with my kid on my blog, then she started biting her nails. I CAN'T GET HER TO STOP and it's driving me batty. That was awesome that he did that for them though.
