Vapid Nail Lacquer Original Sin XXX Dirty Holo

Vapid Nail Lacquer has done it again. Another classic shade done dirty. But in the very best way. I even have a live action video of the XXX and the OG (on a stick) in the sunshine. If you can't stop to read, the tl;dr is buy this shade.

Vapid Nail Lacquer Original Sin XXX Dirty Holo

Do you need convincing? Really? This is the classic, beautiful, flawless Vapid formula stuffed with more holo than should be legal. It applies smooth and flat...and a more dedicated person could make this baby a one-coater. I used two because my lights give no quarter to my shoddy polishing skillz. I slapped a layer of Seche Vite on there and I was good to go.

flash!

The most pressing question is whether or not you need both. It always comes up whenever a shade goes to the dirty side, and I always try to answer it. This XXX shade is definitely different. The crazy holo sparks give the overall finish a brighter, cooler look to it. And obviously, the holo is crazy and scattered on top of the linear holo of the OG version. The differences, to me at least, are pretty visually obvious.

Here is a wee collage. The image on the left is inside my light box, which is the lighting that I use for 99% of my swatches. The difference is more obvious in artificial lighting, in my oh so humble opinion. The right image is in the early-morning sunshine. The sun scatters the holo in the XXX version and, frankly, is more dazzling.

Why yes, I do have a preference. How did you guess?

Because we had a bit of sun, I decided to make a quick video. I made this while sitting on my daughters bed, leaning into her window sill. I bet my neighbors were curious about that...

  1. Always entertaining! In the light box I prefer XXX, but in the sun I like the original.
