Wet 'n' Wild 1 Step Wonder Gel | I Got It From Influenster

I know I said I was over Influenster, but they keep drawing me back in. Especially when they send out nail polish. As a nail polish and beauty blogger, their beautycentric VoxBoxes are like cat nip for me. I am focusing on the polish, because...I mean, it's polish. But if you scroll to the bottom of this post, I'll have a quick snippet about the rest of the rather disparate items in this VoxBox.

Wet 'n' Wild 1 Step Wonder Gel | I Got It From Influenster

This is a very "Me" shade. A creamy blue leaning periwinkle is, like, my favorite thing ever. A lot of my favorite shades could be described with 75% of those words. And this one isn't bad...but it doesn't have any sort of gel-like feelings. Not for me, at least. And it has the typical modern WnW paddle brush, which I love and adore.  On the surface, this should be a quick mani staple. But I don't think it is.

I applied it here over my (mostly) clean bare nail. I used two normal coats and then left it alone. Without top coat, it showed every bumb, bruise, and groove in my nail plate. No bueno. I think it would benefit from a layer of topper, at the very least. But, in a word of "gel-like" polishes, it isn't bad. 100x better than the Sally Hansen stuff, if I am perfectly honest. Especially considering the price tags, this is a much better product.

If I were to apply this again, I would use a base and top coat. I didn't wear this for longer than a day, so I can't speak to whether applying extra layers would affect the longevity...but I don't care. Its a nice formula, a lovely color...but just not plush enough.

Being Influenster, there were some other seemingly unrelated things in the box.

The other things, except for the taco seasoning, were just ok. The perfume duo was WAY too sweet/strong for me taste...though I think because the yellow one there in the back leaked all over the box and my mailbox smelled like old lady for a few days colors my opinion. The shampoo/conditioner was ok. My hair is heavily processed, and it was left just too dry afterwards to ever consider using this on the daily. Plus, it's "luxury feel" was significantly diminished by the fact that I saw this giant bottles at Costco for $8 each the day after these arrived. The applesauce and the Peeps...the kids loved those. Peeps are a pretty particular thing, and I happen to love them. I am on the fence about the hard "chocolate" coating. Maybe I'm just fussy?

The taco seasoning was really enjoyable. I like to make tacos. That should surprise no one. But what is surprising is that I enjoy making lentil tacos. This seasoning packet was great for that, and I ended up repurchasing this later. My main complaint here is the price. Non organic McCormicks taco seasoning is, like, 87c. Maybe. It's cheap, and coupled with dried lentils is a great budget-friendly non-meat protein to center a meal around. The organic version was $1.60, possibly more. That seems a little silly, and if I'm honest it kept me from replacing the cheaper version.

I Got It From Influenster

Even though I kinda lag on posting Influenster stuff, I do rather enjoy getting the boxes in the mail. I just wish the boxes were a bit better curated. I feel like they got so close with this one. I'm sure there will be another soon, I can't wait to see whats in it!

  1. This would be a good box if you had kids at home since they'd love the treats. I like the color of the polish but it needs work.

  2. I appreciate the 1-step formulas just because it's nice to have that option, but my nails are super thin and bendy so I always wear base coat, 3 coats of polish, and a top coat to thicken them.

  3. I appreciate your review on this. I have the same shade, but haven't tried it yet. I look forward to doing so!

  4. OK a few things. 1) YAY, so great to see you back on the bloggity blog! :) 2) I LOL'd at the taco seasoning because...well I know you! hahahah

  8. That is a gorgeous blue. I just got the Flourish voxbox. I ate all the Welch's myself. None for the nugget. They are too yummy. He doesn't really like fruit snacks anyway.....

  9. Pretty colour, bummer on it showing the bumps x

  10. TBH the only thing I'd've liked in this box is the polish. (Not because I don't love tacos, but because I usually just throw in my own seasonings, lol!)

  11. I got this vox box but mine came with drastically different items. I had dry shampoo instead of conditioner, sour candy instead of taco seasoning (laaaame! We both know I love tacos), and some crappy press on nails that look like my cat painted them. As for the perfume, I know that wears differently on everyone (body chemistry ish) and I kind of loved it. Def. not going to run out and buy more but it was a nice change of pace. Also... you're welcome for the rambling novel.

  12. I can see how a base coat would definitely be better. It really is a great color!

  13. Ohh those periwinkles are perfection! I think with base and top coat this would be a winner, for sure. A US friend sent me the hot pink version of this polish and it is nice and opaque; excellent stuff for being so budget friendly!

  14. I've gotten a few of Wet n Wild's wonder gel polish, and they're pretty nice. That shade you got is stunning!!!

  15. I have yet to get an actual nail polish in one! *cries* But I do love the variety.

  16. Loving the color but don't know about the finish alone. I would certainly have to go the base coat top coat route for a smoother finish.

  17. Oh what a bummer that is! I notice that where there are multiple types of items - food, makeup, lifestyle - in a box, the food is always the best part LOL.
