Seventy Seven Nail Lacquer Kiss My Sass vs Don't Call Me Barbie

Leave it to Seventy Seven Nail Lacquer to make a stand-out neon. This brand burst onto the scene with some crazy-bright shades last year, and if the other stuff I've swatched is any indication, this is definitely a brand to watch this year. One of my 2016 goals is to get organized, and that includes my swatch sticks. I noticed that I had two neons from this brand...and I figured a comparison was in order.

Let's start by looking at the older neon pin, Don't Call Me Barbie. It was part of the Neon Nights collection that I shared with you guys last June. It is a bright warm neon pink that is filled with gold shimmer. I remember loving this formula and being over-all impressed with the application.

Next let's take a peek at Kiss My Sass. It was part of the shiny new things for Fall 2016. It is definitely cooler (hence the blow-out of color for my poor camera) and has a softer, more subtle gold pearl. This formula was, if possible, better than the previous neon pink.

Hopefully, you can see why I thought it might be worth comparing these two. In indoor light, they looked even more similar in the bottle. That definitely ended when I applied them.

Against my skin, the coolness of Kiss My Sass was far more obvious, It is also more neon, which is why I have such trouble catching a good picture of it. Formula wise, I think I prefer Kiss My Sass to Don't Call Me Barbie. It is just a wee bit more fluid, likely because it has only shimmer rather than tiny flakes of gold.

The macro kinda shows the difference in shimmers.

I mean, I'm still keeping both of them. They aren't the same...they are similar.

Under an ultra-violet light, they are amazingly similar.

You can see that my index and middle fingers, which are wearing Kiss My Sass, are giving off a little bit of a pink shimmering pearl. That was more evident in real life as well. Under a black light, Don't Call Me Barbie came off as slightly warmer and a little bit more flat in color. Kiss My Sass was a bit more dynamic and fun.

Hopefully this was helpful to you. If you happen to be poking around the 77NL shop, I definitely recommend grabbing Kiss My Sass. Don't Call Me Barbie is no longer available, but you might find it in a destash somewhere. Not mine. I need them both.
