Wet 'n' Wild Los Feliz Navidad

It has been a little while since I have had a drugstore polish worth sharing. I admit that since falling down the Indie rabbit hole, there haven't been a lot of mainstream brands that have blown up my proverbial skirts...and especially not textured polishes. And in all honesty, this one didn't really do it for me at first either. But my five-year-old picked this, so dammit I'm gonna wear it.

Wet 'n' Wild Los Feliz Navidad

I found this on a random shelf at CVS, in the midst of all the leftover Christmas gift sets. The Peanut immediately grabbed it...because sparkles. I hadn't bought polish from CVS in months, so I decided to grab it. My girls love textures, so at least they'd get some use out of it.

I didn't realize it was textured until I put it on. I'm sure it was on there somewhere...but I didn't pay much attention. It is a really unusual indigo filled with pale gold and indigo glitters. There is also a lovely shift across the top. The fact that this dries matte really makes this a pretty polish. It isn't as awful as some textures...but it still bugs me personally. No laundry folding will be done here.

The brush is a problem for me here. It is a wider brush, which I generally like...but I think textured polishes need a slightly longer brush, just to keep them from turning into a mop. This brush is a bit of a mop, kids. Notsomuch that it was a total disaster, but enough that I had thicker sides and a thinner top. I needed two medium coats for these pictures, regardless of the wonky brush.

The macros make it look a bit like a Star Trek prop. I like that.

I think textures are over, right? No more tricksy textured polishes hiding on the shelves at my drugstore? I may never wear it again, but I know my kids will adore it. I want to say it reminds me of an OPI Liquid Sand...

  1. I love textured polishes. Too bad these WnW polishes never showed up in my area :(

    1. PS this is from the "We're the Wild Cats" collection. All but one polish was textured I think

    2. Huh, this is the only one I saw...we don't generally get new drugstore stuff here either. Hell, we barely get the salon brands stuff.

  2. It is a pretty close dupe to Alcatraz... Rocks! If I recall correctly, it's pretty close except for the bigger glitter.

  4. I love the bigger glitters in there! I've never been 100% into textured polish but I like wearing them as accent instead of regular glitters sometimes. I don't think I own any this colour.

    1. I love the look but hate that feel. As an accent...they might be ok.

  5. It's too bad about the brush, but I have to say I do love it. I feel like the only one who fawns over texture polish sometimes.

  6. This is super pretty! I still whip out a texture every one and a while. Sometimes I wear it without a topcoat and sometimes I make it glossy. Either way, I still rock 'em!

  7. Too bad about the brush, because this is gorgeous. Reminds me of OPI Alcatraz Rocks, I think.

  8. Yessss to Star Trek prop! Beam this polish on over! The slatey, sparkly gray looks very sleek and modern on you, texture be damned.

  11. I have this polish and am wearing it right now. I have an event to attend and wanted to redo my nails. I was going to do some nail art, but didn't feel like spending the time. So, I pulled this out of my stash. There's nothing on bottle that says It's textured. I really don't like textured polishes either. But, this is gorgeous. I've been staring at my nails under the light. Oh, shiny. I used Essie Gel Setter top coat and that evens out the surface. I have a feeling I'll spend most of the evening staring at my nails instead of listening to the speaker.
