Cirque Colors Limited Edition Icon Duos for Nordstroms

Cirque Colors makes me feel fancy, and I can't explain it. There is something about the colors, the packaging, the feel of their bottles that makes me feel sophisticated. They have some new duos available through Nordstroms right now that definitely keep up that swanky tradition.

(promotional samples ahead)

Cirque Colors Icon Duo Modern Muse & El Capitan

Modern Muse
Modern Muse is a smoked-out, metallic pink holo. It is gentle and wearable and I am in love with it. It is the nail polish equivalent of the "MLBB" lipstick shade. It is blissfully thin and yet applies without the splotchy bits of a lot of shades this light. I used three thin coats + Seche Vite here, but I think for normal wear I would use just two.

Cirque Colors Modern Muse

El Capitan
El Capitan is a warm olive green cream. It is slightly thick, especially compared to the silky smoothness of Modern Muse, and I think I could have gotten away with one medium coat if I had less free edge. As it was, I used two thin coats + Seche Vite for the picture below.

Because these are sold as duos, I decided to do some quick & easy art for each one. For this little manicure, I just added a trio of dots on each nail...with a random accent nail for good measure. I really like how the pink and green work together, and I think a dotticure like this is accessible for any skill level.

Cirque Colors Icon Duo Oporto & Storm King

Oporto
Oporto is a deliciously decadent mahogany filled with simmering red flakes and decorated with a subtle scattered holo. This color...you guys. It is perfectly vamp without being an expected shade. The red flakes glow like embers from a fire deep within the polish...sigh. It has a slightly jellied formula, but it is still opaque in two coats + SV.

Storm King
Storm King is a dusty sky blue that I swear to god turns purple at some angles. It is that shade of pale cornflower, ya know? This formula was on the thicker side, and its another that could probably be a one coater in the right conditions. I used two coats + SV here.

Oporto + Storm King
My darling pal Kendahl sent me some vinyls a while back for the 40GNAI mermaid prompt, but I forgot to use it because my memory is made of swiss cheese. I have left them on my desk, staring at me, waiting to be used. So I grabbed a few and decided to try something...but still keep with the simple & easy theme.

Cirque Colors Icon Duo Tangerine Dream & Selvedge

Tangerine Dream
Tangerine Dream is a simmering orange-red holo with some pinkish flakes hiding underneath. It is on the right side of the temperature spectrum to be flattering and easy for me to wear...but the holo gives it a warmth that would be flattering on warmer skintones as well. I used two thin coats + SV below, and I couldn't be more pleased.

Cirque Colors Tangerine Dream

Selvedge
This is a lovely ink blue cream. There is a slightly dusted quality to this shade, and I feel like that makes it very modern and sophisticated. I thought the other two creams were opaque, but they are nothing compared to this one. If I were using this as a base for something (or had shorter nails) I would only do a single layer. It is pigmented. I used two coats here because my lights sometimes burn through single layers, but I really didn't need to.

Cirque Colors Selvedge

Tangerine Dream + Selvedge
Art #3 is possibly the easiest of them all! I wiped 99% of the polish off the brush and then just swiped it about randomly. I left one nail bare and blue, but you could probably use the orange if you felt like it. This is literally the easiest thing since seriotypes, yall.

Cirque Colors Tangerine Dream + Selvedge

These are, as with all the Cirque products I have tried, just lovely. The packaging, the colors, the finish...sigh. Bee's knees, you guys. Bee's knees.  These duos are LE and are available from Nordstroms and in select Nordstroms stores.

If I had to pick my favorite, I think it would be the Modern Muse/El Capitan duo. Those colors just speak to me, in general. Which set is your favorite?

  6. I love all three sets. Sadly, Cirque is an indie that just does not work with my chemistry. It slides off my nail no different than if I used oil as a base coat.
