St. Thomas Duo from Blue Eyed Girl and Emerald & Ash

promotional samples ahead

Summertime collections are in full-swing, and I admit that I am glad. Shiny new polish is a beautiful thing, ya'll. It is even better when it comes in a set! I won the shiny-things lottery and was asked to swatch the St. Thomas Duo from Emerald & Ash and Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer and it is amazing. This color palette is so peaceful and dreamy, I feel like I'm halfway to vacation already.
Have you ever taken a picture and thought "I could live in this photograph forever?" I am hoping that was the feeling behind this picture, because I could definitely live right there for a good long time. Thankfully, I don't have to worry about getting sand in places because two lovely brands made colors based on it!

This is a shot of a peaceful beach on St Thomas, in the US Virgin Islands. I have never been there, but it is now officially on my bucket list. It inspired two of the prettiest polishes I have seen thus far this season. I have to say that I love how unique each polish is even though they came from the same picture.

The St. Thomas Duo consists of felt squares, some terrifying water decals, and two completely complementary colors inspired by the most peaceful picture I have seen in recent memory. It is feminine without being floofy and gross...which is a hard thing to achieve when one of the colors is a delicate girly pink.

Pink Sugar Sunsets
Pink Sugar Sunsets is a delicate cool pink jelly-ish polish with blue and pink iridescent glittery things floating around like fairy dust. It really does look like it is filled with pink sugar. I swear I have had cotton candy that looks just like this polish. I used three whisper-thin coats plus a layer of Seche Vite and it behaved perfectly. This is my first BeG polish, so I wasn't sure what to expect. After this bottle, I can pretty much promise that it won't be my last. I'm not the biggest fan of pink...but this is so perfect and unusual that I feel compelled to wear it.

Sunset at Sugar Beach
Sunset at Sugar Beach is a summery turquoise filled with pinky flakes and glitter and the faintest breath of holo. It feels like warm Caribbean waters filled with pirate treasures and glittering shells. You can almost smell the warm salt water when wearing this polish. I used three super-light coats and a layer of Seche Vite, and it was flat and smooth like glass.

And because I am the self-proclaimed "Queen of Gradients", I had to do a gradient with these two straight away. I actually did it before I knew the inspiration for these colors...so it was kinda meant to be. I did two passes with the sponge because Pink Sugar Sunsets is such a light color and I didn't want it to blur to violet. I think it turned out perfectly.

Oh look. The sun came out. For exactly five minutes. Hooray. Summer on the coast is hard on sparkly things...

There was a small set of beachy water decals enclosed in this duo...and I was afraid. I have never used water decals. I look at them and think "oOOooooOooh" but never pulled the trigger. But I knew that this was my chance. Everything went better than expected. I am definitely going to be using more water decals. I definitely love how these look over my sunsety gradient.

And now, obligatory macro time!

I definitely give this duo a 47/10 on the "you need it or else" scale.

You need to be following Blue Eyed Girl Lacquer and Emerald & Ash on Facebook so that you don't miss this polish, or any others! Now I just have to decided which polishes from each brand I am going to bring home next. I think Desert Tears for E&A (you know how I feel about neutrals) but I can't decide for BeG. Tell me your favorites in the comments below and help me narrow the field!
