Urban Decay Naked 3: Swatches and a Look of the Day

*this is a picture heavy post guys. basically, makeup porn. enjoy!*

Urban Decay loves to steal my money. They keep making things that I must have. The latest offering is the Naked 3 palette. It is 12 shades of rosy perfection. I love the rose-gold take on neutrals.

the box. it's so purdy.
I ordered mine from Sephora, and it came with a sample of all four of the Urban Decay Primer Potions. I will probably use the original one...for swatching. UDPP just doesn't work for me. It accentuates all the wrinkles on my eyelids and makes me sad. I've tried it repeatedly, and I just can't make it work.

it comes with a double-ended brush. which is

acceptable, I guess.
If you like the rose-gold colors that have been floating around the last year or so, then I recommend this palette. It isn't as neutral as Naked 1 or 2, but I think it is just as useful for daily looks. Most of the shades are fairly smooth. The only two that I was unimpressed with were Darkside, Nooner, and Limit. They definitely need primer to perform like the should, which is surprising for Urban Decay Shadows. Some folks complained about Dust being awful, but mine felt pretty smooth when I swatched it. (however, when I applied these to my face...holy fallout, batman!) I think that when paired with a white base, like Nyx Milk pencil, that these colors will just pop.

Overall, I recommend it. I think that no matter if you are fair or deep, warm or cool, this will work for you. I'd love to see Urban Decay come out with a smaller palette, akin to the Naked Basics, in a color range like these. They do have a line of double-ended pencils now, that I am debating on buying.

I'm curious if there will be a Naked 4...maybe it'll be greens next? Or purples? Urban Decay seems to be putting all of their eggs into this Naked basket: Naked 1/2/3 eyeshadow palettes, Revolution lipsticks in Naked and Naked 2, 24/7 liners in coordinating shades, Naked Skin foundation, Naked BB cream, Naked setting powder, Naked Flushed blush/bronzer...and now Naked lip gloss. Sheesh...what is left?

And now...
Swatches!
